How to make ornament dough

Tired of decorations from Small-Mart and the Cheaparama? Feeling the need to be creative?

Why not make your own ornaments? This is a really great idea if you have children and want THEM to decorate your tree!

This also works if you want natural, unleaded ornaments in your house. (Plus, if they get broken, you can just make more!)

I think these ornaments would look lovely on a tree with homemade popcorn or cranberry strings. All biodegradable and environment friendly!

Mix together:

  • 1 cup salt (fine not coarse)
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup cold water

Knead together and put in your fridge overnight before handling. Dough works best when it’s cool.

When your finished making your ornaments, bake for 2 hours at about 250 to 275 degrees.

Tips:

  • cut with cookie cutters
  • mould like clay
  • dress up with sprinkles
  • paint after baking
  • preserve paint with varnish
  • make into pins or magnets

And remember… don’t eat your decorations!
